Maduro Signs Emergency Decree in Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has signed an emergency decree to take effect in the event of a U.S. military attack. Vice President Delcy Rodríguez stated that the document would immediately come into force if American forces launched aggression against the country.
According to Rodríguez, Washington intends to seize Venezuela’s natural resources, particularly its oil reserves. She stressed that the decree is designed to protect the nation’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and vital strategic interests.
Earlier, Maduro accused the United States of trying to wage a “war against the people of Venezuela, South America, and the Caribbean basin.” It was also reported that a U.S. Navy destroyer attacked and seized a fishing vessel in the region.
