Macron arrived in Syria on his first official visit
French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Syria on an official visit. This is the French leader’s first trip to the country since 2009.
According to the Élysée Palace, the visit will last until July 7. Macron plans to speak in support of a sovereign and free Syria, as well as to discuss issues of regional stability and de-escalation.
For security reasons, the visit was not announced until the president’s arrival. Macron himself stated that France will continue to support the Syrian people and advocates for a peaceful future for the country.
