Metropolitan Hilarion of the Russian Orthodox Church was dismissed in the Czech Republic following a drug scandal

Metropolitan Hilarion of the Russian Orthodox Church was dismissed in the Czech Republic following a drug scandal

In the Czech Republic, Metropolitan Hilarion of the Russian Orthodox Church and the cameraman who was with him at the time of his arrest were released without charge.

This was reported on Ilarion’s own Telegram channel.

At the same time, according to his defense team, forensic analysis confirmed that the substance found in the car is illegal.

The Metropolitan’s defense team states that the mere fact that drugs were found does not explain how they ended up in the car and insists on a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Ilarion was detained on May 24 in Karlovy Vary after Czech police received an anonymous tip about a possible drug shipment. During a search of the car, four containers of a white substance were found in the trunk.

The metropolitan himself denies any involvement with drugs and claims that in recent months he has received anonymous threats demanding that he leave his post.

Following the detention, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the incident a “provocation.”

In the Czech Republic, law enforcement officials are investigating Metropolitan Hilarion of the Russian Orthodox Church after containers of an unknown white substance were found in the car where he was traveling.

The Security Service of Ukraine has already launched a detailed investigation into illegal activities on the monastery grounds following the publication of evidence by journalists. Investigators are examining educational materials and identifying the teachers who implemented the educational standards of the aggressor country. Unlike Ukraine’s official educational institutions, which operate according to state standards, such underground structures are often used by Russia to exert soft influence and shape a generation loyal to the occupiers within the country.

Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy Tetiana Berezhna stated the need to await the official results of the Security Service of Ukraine’s investigation into the clandestine educational institution exposed by journalists on the grounds of the UOC-MP monastery in the Holosiivskyi district.
