Cyprus Health Ministry compiles list of medical centres with high-risk procedures — Cyprus Mail
Cyprus’ Ministry of Health has begun compiling a list of medical centres where high-risk treatments are performed. The instruction was issued at the beginning of the week by Health Minister Nefitos Charalambidis, Cyprus Mail reports.
Work parameters will be determined separately
The ministry stated that the scope of work involved in compiling the list and those responsible for it will be determined during internal meetings. The department expects to obtain results quickly.
Under current legislation, oversight of private hospitals falls within the remit of the Health Ministry commissioner for private hospitals.

Medical association’s actions
The Cyprus Medical Association CyMA said it would send its members a notice calling on them to help identify unlicensed specialists and cases of improper medical practice. The association issues licences to practise medicine in Cyprus on the basis of documents from the Health Ministry’s medical council after verifying doctors’ qualifications and certificates.
CyMA noted that it refers cases requiring investigation to the relevant state authorities and, where necessary, to the police. The association is awaiting information from the Health Ministry and will begin relevant procedures if the compilation of the list identifies issues within its remit.
Following a recent administrative reorganisation, CyMA seeks to implement its council’s decisions in a more organised manner, including on individual cases that may damage the reputation of the medical profession. The association also recalled its joint 2025 campaign with the Health Ministry on the risks of cosmetic medical procedures performed by unqualified persons and called on the public to report suspicious cases so that complaints can be examined.
