The Romanian Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador over drone violations of its airspace
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the ambassador of the Russian Federation, the aggressor state, over repeated violations of the country’s airspace by drones. This came after Romanian fighter jets shot down the third drone in the last three days that had violated Romania’s airspace.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu stated that Bucharest’s diplomatic protest against Russia will be based on the results of investigations into the drone incursions. According to her, the Romanian side considers such violations unacceptable.

“It is unacceptable and intolerable for the Russian Federation to continue violating Romania’s airspace, which is also the airspace of NATO and the European Union. Such actions are unacceptable, and we treat them with the utmost seriousness together with our allies,” the statement reads.
Romanian President Nicușor Dan reported that another drone was shot down over the country’s territory on Sunday. Separately, on July 25 at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time, a drone was shot down 10 kilometers west of the city of Sfântu Gheorghe. The Romanian Ministry of Defense clarified that this was done by the same pilot who shot down another drone on July 24. Romanian military officials reported that the drone shot down on July 24 was visually identified as a “Shahed”-type drone.
