Hungarian Foreign Ministry: Ukraine will run out of money before we run out of oil

Hungarian Foreign Ministry: Ukraine will run out of money before we run out of oil

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated that Ukraine would allegedly be forced to resume Russian oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.

He made this remark during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest, according to Vadhajtások.

According to Szijjártó, shipments could resume as early as April 13—the day after Hungary’s parliamentary elections. He expressed confidence in the victory of Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party and stated that Ukraine would be forced to take this step.

“The Ukrainians will run out of money much faster than we will run out of oil. Therefore, after our victory in the elections, they will be forced to restart the Druzhba pipeline, and transportation will resume on the evening of April 13,” he said.

Szijjártó also hinted that Ukraine’s financial situation is worsening due to Budapest’s blocking of a €90 billion EU loan. Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that he would not support a decision in Ukraine’s favor until the transit of Russian oil is resumed.

In addition, the Hungarian foreign minister opposed enshrining Ukraine’s EU membership in any peace agreement. According to him, this could lead to the European Union and NATO being drawn into the war, which, in his view, would pose the risk of a global conflict.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance plans to visit Hungary in the coming days to show support for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of the parliamentary elections.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that military and financial support from European countries is the main factor prolonging the fighting.

As a reminder, Orbán claimed that Ukrainians are threatening his family and children.
