Ukraine can help ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz — British minister
Ukraine possesses some of the world’s most advanced drone technology and could join international efforts to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated by a British minister.
According to Reuters, this was stated by Alistair Carnes, the UK’s Minister of State for Defense and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, during a visit to Kyiv.
“Ukraine has some of the best technology in the world, which it developed during the war. I think this could be useful in the Middle East, as we are already seeing in the fight against Shahed drones, all the way to the Strait of Hormuz,” said Carnes.
According to the minister, the purpose of his visit was to assure Kyiv that the war in Ukraine remains a key priority for the UK in the areas of defense and security.
Karns noted that Britain also has much to learn from Ukraine regarding battlefield innovation, particularly in the areas of drone technology, data utilization, and artificial intelligence.
“This is a revolution in military affairs, and we need to move faster,” said the British minister.
Incorporating military advancements into the UK’s 10-year defense investment plan, which was supposed to be published late last year, takes time, but the report will be ready this spring, the minister noted.
Carns urged Ukraine to accelerate the export of its advanced technologies to capture a share of the global market, as well as to promote training and development alongside NATO allies.
Four ships, including one tanker, passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. President Donald Trump also stated that it will become clear within the next 24 hours whether agreements with Iran have been reached. At the same time, the United States is preparing for another scenario—the possible resumption of strikes.
Kallas stated that security in the Strait of Hormuz must be a shared responsibility.
