Rain and thunderstorms forecast in Cyprus amid heat of up to 37 degrees — Cyprus Mail
Rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected in some areas of Cyprus on Friday afternoon, while air temperatures in the island’s inland areas may reach 37 degrees. Cyprus Mail reports.
Precipitation in the mountains and inland areas
The morning will be mostly clear, but cloud cover will increase later. Local rain and possible isolated thunderstorms are forecast primarily in mountainous and some inland areas. Hail is possible during thunderstorms.
At first, a light southerly and southwesterly wind of force 3 on the Beaufort scale will blow. Later, it will shift to mainly southwesterly and northwesterly winds of force 3–4. The sea will be calm or slightly rough.

Temperature and weekend forecast
Temperatures in inland areas will rise to around 37 degrees, to 31 degrees on the west coast, and to 33 degrees on other coasts. Around 26 degrees are expected in the highlands.
Clear weather will prevail at night, although low cloud cover will occasionally appear along the coast. Haze or fog is possible in places toward the end of the night and at dawn. Temperatures will drop to around 22 degrees inland, 23 degrees on the coast, and 17 degrees in the highlands.
On Saturday afternoon, cloud cover may bring isolated rain or thunderstorms to the mountains and inland areas. Mostly clear weather is forecast for Sunday and Monday, while temperatures will rise after remaining at roughly the same level on Saturday. They are currently slightly above the seasonal norm.
