Heavy rains will continue in southern South Korea through Monday
Heavy rains in southern South Korea are forecast to continue through Monday. On Sunday, rainfall was reported in most regions of the country, according to the Korea Herald.
Some areas in Gyeongsang and Jeolla provinces were expected to receive at least 100 mm of rain. Along the central and southern coasts of South Jeolla Province, rainfall ranged from 30 to 50 mm.
In most central areas, the rain was expected to ease off on Sunday afternoon. In other parts of the country, heavy rain was forecast to continue at least until Monday morning, and in some areas of Jeju Island, until Monday afternoon.

From Saturday through Sunday morning, emergency services in the Jeollanam-do–Gwangju region received about 120 reports of rain-related emergencies. In Mokpo, a highway was flooded due to the bad weather, and in Haenam County, a restaurant was flooded.
South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior and Safety held an emergency meeting on Sunday and dispatched officials to South Gyeongsang Province due to expected heavy rainfall in the Mount Jirisan area.
