The jersey featured the name “Trump” and the number 47, symbolizing Trump’s status as the 47th President of the United States.
The gift was timed to coincide with the American leader’s 80th birthday, which he celebrated the day before.
At the same time, as AFP notes, Donald Trump is more interested in combat sports than soccer. In particular, on his birthday, he organized a UFC tournament at the White House and skipped the U.S. national team’s first match at the 2026 World Cup on home soil.
This gift was part of informal diplomatic exchanges on the sidelines of the summit and a symbolic gesture within the framework of the G7 leaders’ meetings.
