NATO is discussing a new €70 billion aid package for Ukraine, according to Politico
NATO member countries are considering providing Ukraine with a new military aid package worth approximately €70 billion. It is expected that this announcement may be made during the NATO summit in Ankara.
As noted, the issue of continued support for Ukraine will be one of the main items on the agenda of the NATO leaders’ meeting, scheduled for July 7–8.
A NATO representative told the publication:
“Discussions are ongoing regarding how we will continue to provide Ukraine with strong support from NATO and ensure a more equitable burden-sharing,” the statement reads.
According to diplomats, the initiative previously proposed by Germany involves creating a new mechanism to increase transparency and coordination of funding for Ukraine.
The total amount of aid could consist of several components:
- €30 billion — within the framework of the already agreed €90 billion two-year EU loan program for Ukraine;
- €40 billion — through bilateral contributions from NATO member states.
The Alliance notes that some states have expressed concern about the uneven distribution of the financial burden in supporting Ukraine. The new approach is intended to make contributions more coordinated and transparent.
Final decisions are expected to be presented during the July NATO summit in Ankara.

The United Nations Development Programme is expanding its support for Ukraine in restoring energy infrastructure—by 2026, the amount of aid will reach $500 million. The decision was made following a request from the Ukrainian mission to the UN, which submitted an updated list of needs.
European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius stated that the European Union remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine even if dialogue with the Kremlin fails.
