Israel’s National Library launches collection of memorial books for October 7 anniversary
The National Library of Israel has announced an initiative to collect and preserve memorial books and brochures dedicated to people killed in combat and murdered individuals. The Jerusalem Post reports. The project was timed to coincide with the third anniversary of the events of October 7.
A three-month exhibition
Starting on October 7, 2026, the library will present the three-month exhibition “7.10 | Bound in Memory.” It will display memorial books and brochures created following the loss of loved ones.
Such publications were created by family members, friends, communities, and organizations. The collection will also include works left by those who died and later published in their memory.

Transferring publications to the collections
The library called on the public to help locate and transfer other memorial publications. Families may provide a physical or digital copy of a book or brochure, as well as both formats. Whether a particular publication has already reached the library can be checked through its catalog.
The collection is open to families of those killed in Israel’s wars and military campaigns, as well as to families of people murdered in terrorist attacks throughout the state’s history. The initiative is part of the October 7 Archive, through which the library collects, preserves, and catalogs testimonies, collections, and other materials about the events of October 7 and the war that followed.
The library also plans to launch a separate website where visitors will be able to learn about the personal stories, people, and memories connected with the collected publications.
