Navrotsky Warned of a Threat to Polish Farmers Due to Ukraine's Accession to the EU
Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that Ukraine’s potential membership in the European Union poses serious challenges and threats to the Polish agricultural sector. The Polish leader made this statement during a speech to agricultural producers at the AgroLiga 2025 industry competition.
Karol Nawrocki emphasized that while he understands Kyiv’s aspirations for European integration, his primary duty as head of state remains the protection of the domestic market. He assured farmers that he would always consistently defend the interests of Polish farmers and protect domestic products, particularly during discussions in Brussels regarding the European Green Deal and other EU regulatory decisions.
The latest flare-up of discussions surrounding Ukrainian agricultural exports and future integration coincided with a new phase of cooling in bilateral relations between the two countries. This time, diplomatic tensions were triggered by Ukraine’s official decision to name one of its Special Operations Forces (SOF) units after the Heroes of the UPA, which drew a sharp reaction from Warsaw.

Poland will use the negotiation process regarding Ukraine’s and Moldova’s accession to the European Union to protect its own national interests.
