Netanyahu prepares lawsuit against Haaretz over report on UAE warning
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed lawyers to file a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper Haaretz and journalist Shlomi Eldar. This followed a Haaretz publication claiming that the United Arab Emirates had warned Netanyahu about the Hamas attack on October 7.
Position of Netanyahu’s office
According to the Jerusalem Post, the Prime Minister’s Office called the Haaretz report completely fabricated. It stated that there had been no communication between Netanyahu and the UAE from the beginning of September 2023 until the October 7 attack.
The office also said it had checked the prime minister’s call log and records of visits to his office during that period. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, these records contain no information about a visit by an Emirati representative to the head of government’s office.

Statements regarding the events of October 7
Netanyahu’s office called the publication part of a “sinister conspiracy” with an obvious political calculation linked to the election campaign of left-wing forces. In the same statement, the office placed responsibility for the events of October 7 on Ronen Bar and Herzi Halevi, claiming that they had seen signs of the attack several hours before it began and had not informed the prime minister in time.
In response, Haaretz said it stands by what was stated in its publication.
