Nigeria’s NDC distances itself from OK Movement campaign council — Premium Times Nigeria

In Nigeria, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) party stated that it has no connection to the presidential campaign council created by the OK Movement in support of its candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. The party called on the public and the media to disregard announcements by this group.

Statement by the party leadership

As Premium Times Nigeria reports, NDC Chairman Cleopas Moses said that the announcement about the establishment of a presidential campaign council by the OK Movement did not originate from the party. According to him, the NDC fully dissociates itself from this initiative and believes that the public and the media should ignore it.

OK Movement stands for Obi-Kwankwaso Movement. It is one of the independent groups mobilizing support for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NDC’s candidates for president and vice president, respectively.

Warning to candidates

Moses said that the movement’s actions could harm the party. He also called on NDC candidates and their supporters to respect the party hierarchy.

The party chairman stressed that NDC candidates are not participating in the elections as independent candidates. The publication notes that this is not the first time the NDC has expressed concern about groups supporting its presidential candidate.
