Germany has warned of a possible intensification of Russian attacks ahead of August 24
Germany has issued a stronger warning to its citizens planning to travel to Ukraine. Officials in Berlin stated that new and more intense Russian attacks cannot be ruled out on the eve of and during Independence Day on August 24. For this reason, the German Foreign Ministry advises postponing trips unless absolutely necessary.
The German Foreign Ministry has updated its travel advisories for Ukraine. The ministry reiterated that a war is ongoing in the country and that Russia regularly attacks Ukrainian cities with missiles and drones. According to the German Foreign Ministry, danger exists in all regions of Ukraine. Russian strikes may target not only military facilities but also civilian and critical infrastructure.
Berlin has paid particular attention to the period around August 24—Ukraine’s Independence Day. The German ministry warned that an intensification of Russian attacks cannot be ruled out during this time. Energy facilities, transportation hubs, and other infrastructure may be at risk.
