German military personnel are helping Poland secure its border with Russia
German military personnel, together with engineering units of the Polish Army, are strengthening defensive infrastructure along Poland’s border with the Russian Federation—an aggressor state. This was reported by the Polish General Staff, according to “European Truth.”
The General Staff noted that the Bundeswehr unit was invited by the Polish side to participate in the work as part of the “Eastern Shield” program. German and Polish military personnel are carrying out engineering tasks on NATO’s northeastern flank.
The Polish General Staff described these operations as a response to changes in the security situation following Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. They stated that allied cooperation helps improve the combat readiness of troops and strengthen NATO’s defense capabilities.
On July 22, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk posted a video on social media platform X showing the work being done along the border. “Polish and German soldiers are working together to fortify the border with Russia. Things like this are only possible under Tusk,” he wrote.
Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk also reported on the joint construction of the “Eastern Shield” by Polish and German military personnel. In his words, this is “NATO in action.”
The day before, the Polish Government’s National Security Committee discussed scenarios for a Russian “false-flag” operation, including the possible use of drones disguised as Ukrainian ones.
