Norway will allocate 500 million kroner for nuclear safety in Ukraine

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that Norway has decided to allocate 500 million kroner to strengthen Ukraine’s nuclear safety.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers announced this on Telegram.

"We welcome the decision by partner countries to provide funding to ensure Ukraine’s nuclear safety following international events marking the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster," Svyrydenko noted.

She reported that the Norwegian government has announced the allocation of 500 million kroner to strengthen Ukraine’s nuclear safety.

The U.S. State Department also announced its intention to allocate $100 million to support the safety of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The funds will be directed toward addressing the consequences of Russian shelling of the new safe confinement in February 2025 and efforts to further safely isolate nuclear materials at the plant, Svyrydenko noted.

The Prime Minister thanked partners for their consistent and effective support of Ukraine in strengthening energy and nuclear security.

Norway plans to ban social media for children under 16.

The Lithuanian Seimas plans to consider legislative changes that would restrict access to social media for children under 16.

Greece plans to ban access to social media for children under 15. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to announce this.
