US peace plan could delay Ukraine’s NATO aspirations and requires major concessions
According to The Wall Street Journal, a new US peace proposal calls for Ukraine to put its NATO membership ambitions on hold for several years and bans the stationing of foreign peacekeepers on Ukrainian soil. In exchange, Moscow is expected to pledge non-aggression towards Ukraine and other European nations in the future.

An unnamed US official told the press that President Donald Trump is not focused on regaining lost Ukrainian territory. AFP, citing a senior Ukrainian official, reports that Trump’s proposal includes recognizing Crimea and other regions as Russian, as well as reducing Ukraine’s military forces to 400,000 troops. It also requires Ukraine to relinquish all further armaments.
If implemented, this plan would represent a significant shift in resolving the conflict, potentially halting active hostilities while demanding substantial security and territorial concessions from Ukraine.
