Fugitive oligarch Kurchenko has settled in central Moscow and turned his neighbors' lives into a living hell

Serhiy Kurchenko, a fugitive Ukrainian oligarch hiding in Russia, has effectively taken over a luxury apartment building in central Moscow. According to local residents, his actions have significantly disrupted their lives.

This is reported by Russian media.

Residents of the building claim that Kurchenko has set up a fleet of luxury cars in the courtyard, taking up all the parking spaces. According to them, the oligarch’s people occupied the area on one of the New Year’s nights after a failed attempt to legally purchase the parking lot. Currently, access to the parking lot is controlled by his security.

In addition, the businessman has made additions to his apartment—specifically, ventilation and a balcony—which cause inconvenience to other residents. People also note that appeals to law enforcement have yielded no results, and attempts to speak with the oligarch personally could have negative consequences.

Serhiy Kurchenko is considered close to Oleksandr Yanukovych, the son of former President Viktor Yanukovych. He is also linked to former Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka and his son Artem Pshonka.

Following the Euromaidan events in February 2014, Kurchenko left Ukraine and is currently residing in Moscow.

The SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General have gathered evidence regarding the oligarch’s activities. This involves the illegal seizure of enterprises and the plundering of resources in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions between 2017 and 2021.

According to the investigation, Kurchenko appropriated and operated coal mining, metallurgical, and coking chemical industrial complexes, and organized the illegal extraction and export of minerals.

The fugitive Ukrainian businessman and a group of Russian officials have already been notified of the charges against them.

As a reminder, businessman Serhiy Kurchenko, who fled to Russia, is demanding that Decree No. 126/2018 of May 14, 2018, issued by the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, be declared unlawful and repealed. This decree enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council “On the Application and Repeal of Personal Special Economic and Other Restrictive Measures (sanctions).”
