The Pentagon has begun reviewing the U.S. military presence in Europe

The U.S. Department of Defense has officially launched a six-month review of the U.S. military presence in Europe, which could lead to a reduction in troop levels on the continent in the future.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby announced the start of the review. According to him, the initiative aims to assess the deployment of U.S. forces and encourage European allies to assume primary responsibility for their own conventional defense.

The Pentagon notes that the review is intended to accelerate NATO’s transformation into a more resilient and balanced alliance, in which European countries will play a leading role in security matters.

The review is expected to last six months, after which the U.S. Department of Defense will present its findings.

After 13 days of new military strikes against Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a halt to the attacks.

Only about one-third of U.S. citizens support the country’s military actions in Iran. At the same time, nearly 70% of Americans believe that President Donald Trump did not provide a clear explanation of the operation’s objectives before it began.
