Pakistan’s first ambassador to Armenia presents credentials to president
Pakistan’s first ambassador to Armenia, Shafqat Ali Khan, presented his credentials to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan at an official ceremony at the presidential palace. Dawn reports.
Khachaturyan congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and wished him success in his work. The president also stated his readiness to support the development of relations between Armenia and Pakistan and the expansion of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Bilateral cooperation
Shafqat Ali Khan conveyed greetings from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Armenia.
The sides noted the potential for expanding engagement in trade and investment, education, culture, people-to-people contacts, as well as other areas of economic cooperation.

Meetings in Yerevan
Earlier, the ambassador met with Armenian Foreign Minister and Minister of International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan. They discussed the bilateral agenda, opportunities to expand cooperation, as well as regional and international developments.
The diplomat also met with Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan and handed him a copy of his credentials. Safaryan described the establishment of diplomatic relations as an important political decision by the leadership of both states. The sides discussed strengthening engagement in bilateral and multilateral formats.
Pakistan and Armenia established diplomatic relations in August 2025. Shafqat Ali Khan also serves as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan’s non-resident ambassador to Armenia.
