Putin calls for expanding UN Security Council in India
Russian President Vladimir Putin, the head of the aggressor state, called on September 12 at the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi, India, to expand the UN Security Council by increasing the representation of countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing a Kremlin transcript.
Representation in the Security Council
According to Putin, Russia attaches great importance to preserving and strengthening the UN's central role in global affairs. He said BRICS members should continue joint work to improve the organization's effectiveness.
Putin said that expanding the UN Security Council specifically by increasing the representation of states from Asia, Africa and Latin America would help achieve this goal.

Economic institutions
Putin also said there has long been a need to improve the work of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization. In his view, these institutions have difficulties adapting to modern political and economic realities.
At the same time, he described the IMF, WTO and World Bank as important platforms for dialogue among the world's leading economies and called on BRICS countries to strengthen coordination within these institutions. Putin also said that the group has significant intellectual and technological potential.
He claimed that BRICS has become one of the key centers of global governance. According to him, the formation of a multipolar world order is proceeding with difficulty, while states that he accused of seeking to contain competitors use tariff wars, sanctions and brute force for this purpose.
