Iraqi prime minister dismisses Maysan police chief after attacks on Saudi Arabia
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has dismissed the police chief of the southeastern province of Maysan following drone attacks on an oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia. He also ordered the removal of the heads of local security agencies from their posts and their referral for investigation.

Military spokesman Sabah al-Numan said that the prime minister made this decision in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the armed forces amid recent security breaches in the province. He did not specify their nature.
Earlier, Ali al-Zaidi ordered the establishment of an investigative commission to examine the actions of the Maysan Operations Command and dismissed its commander. According to al-Numan, the decision was made after it was established that the attacks against Saudi Arabia had been carried out from the territory of the province.

Strike on the oil pipeline
As Anadolu Agency reports, Saudi Arabia said on September 11 that several drones launched from Iraq struck the East-West oil pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions. The strikes injured people and caused material damage.
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said that the kingdom would not respond to the attacks for now following the Iraqi prime minister's request to allow Baghdad to take action. According to the ministry, Iraqi authorities must prevent the country's territory from being used for attacks on Saudi Arabia and neighboring states. Baghdad has not yet announced the results of the investigation or named the perpetrators of the attacks or their affiliation.
