Crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne donates £36m to Reform UK
In the United Kingdom, cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne donated £36 million to the Reform UK party, matching the contribution made by another crypto billionaire, Ben Delo. As The Guardian World reports, these declared donations jointly constitute the largest contributions made to a political party in the United Kingdom.
According to the publication, they could intensify calls to introduce limits on the size of political donations.
Farage's reaction
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said he was honoured and moved by the support of Harborne and Delo. According to him, both donors believe that Reform UK is the only party capable of changing the situation in the country and winning the next general election.

Farage also said that thanks to their generosity, the party will be able to compete in the next election on equal terms.
Financial checks
The donations came during a period of heightened scrutiny of Reform UK's finances. The Metropolitan Police are conducting a check related to the party's finances. In addition, a parliamentary investigation into compliance with standards concerning a £5 million gift from Harborne, made before Farage was first elected as a member of parliament in 2024, is ongoing.
Reform UK and Farage deny any wrongdoing. Harborne said that he expects nothing in return for his donations: neither a seat in the House of Lords nor a policy change. He noted that he supports a party he considers ready to form a government.
