Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works division meets with startups in Israel
Executives from Skunk Works, a division of the US company Lockheed Martin, visited Israel last month, where they met with representatives of defense technology companies and senior defense officials. The trip was organized by Lockheed Martin Israel.
As The Jerusalem Post reports, the Skunk Works team was seeking combat-tested technologies that could be integrated into its US systems. The division had previously integrated the XOS operating system of Israeli defense company Xtend into the MDCX autonomy platform.
Meetings with developers
Chief engineer Paul Fogel and his team held meetings with more than a dozen defense technology companies during several dedicated events. These included a demonstration day in communities near the border with the Gaza Strip.
Lockheed Martin Israel held one of the events in central Tel Aviv jointly with MAFAT, the Israel Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development. Senior officials from the directorate took part. Participants focused on drones, command-and-control systems, and autonomous technologies.

Drones and autonomous systems
Participants in the meeting included Pixelsite, which specializes in visual intelligence and passive optical systems for detecting low-signature threats; Regulus, which provides comprehensive counter-drone solutions; and Particle Labs.
A separate event was organized by the US-Israeli innovation hub CET Sandbox. About 10 startups presented developments in electronic warfare, battlefield advantage, autonomy, and force protection. According to the publication, they included Tenna Systems, Ion Flux, Invisig, BEX Robotics, Resight, Sharksense, Asio Technologies, Airwayz, R2 Wireless, and Insignito.
The day concluded with a public event at Start-up Nation Central in Tel Aviv, where more than 100 representatives of Israeli startups met with the Lockheed Martin team. The program included a discussion on the future of the defense sector and a question-and-answer session.
