U.S. Support for Israel Plummets — Times/Siena Poll

Nearly two years into the Gaza war, American support for Israel has dramatically declined. A new Times/Siena poll found that a majority of voters now oppose sending additional economic and military aid, with public sympathies shifting toward Palestinians. It marks one of the most significant reversals in U.S. public opinion in decades.

The poll revealed that 40% of voters believe Israel is intentionally killing civilians in Gaza — nearly double the share from 2023. About six in ten respondents said the military campaign should end, even if hostages were not released. Among Democrats, support for Israel has collapsed, with most now siding with Palestinians.
Republicans remain more supportive of Israel, but even among them trust has fallen. Younger voters across the political spectrum overwhelmingly oppose aid, and more Americans believe the U.S. should prioritize domestic issues rather than financing war abroad.
