North Korea has sent up to 50,000 troops to Russia, according to Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that North Korea has sent between 30,000 and 50,000 troops to Russia. According to him, the Russian side has given them the opportunity to gain experience in actual combat and undergo military training.
According to the Ukrainian president, Russia is using the presence of North Korean troops to provide them with practical combat experience.
“North Korea has sent between 30,000 and 50,000 soldiers to Russia. Russia has given them the opportunity to gain experience in real combat operations and undergo training—not on a digital simulator, but in real life. For North Korea, this wasn’t expensive. They could only do this here: deploy, train, and return. Without significant losses, except when they decided to engage us directly in combat during the Kursk Offensive. “Then they decided not to enter Ukrainian territory to avoid significant losses,” Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy also stated that North Korea is gaining experience in modern warfare from Russia, particularly in the field of unmanned technologies.
According to Zelenskyy, North Korean military personnel are currently training, working with drones and drone operators, and undergoing relevant training.
The President of Ukraine believes that the transfer of such expertise could create additional security challenges for the Pacific region.
Thus, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s assessment, cooperation between Russia and North Korea involves not only a military presence but also the exchange of practical experience in modern warfare, particularly the use of drones.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy made these remarks in an interview with the Japanese television network NHK, as he wrote on Telegram.
Earlier, North Korea announced that on September 12, it conducted joint exercises involving long-range artillery and missile units. This was reported by the state-run Korean Central News Agency after South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff detected the launch of several short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea.
