Ghana police say they dismantled several robbery gangs
In Ghana, police said they had dismantled several groups that, according to their information, were involved in robberies and operated in four regions of the country. A number of suspects were detained during the operations, MyJoyOnline reports.
Operations in four regions
According to police, the groups were identified in four regions of the country — Greater Accra, Western, Savannah and Northern. The operations were conducted as part of intensified measures against violent crime.
Inspector-General of Police Christian Yohunu said law enforcement officers would continue searching for suspects who remain at large. According to him, police will pursue them regardless of where they try to hide.

The search will continue
Yohunu noted that the aim of the ongoing operations is to identify criminal elements and improve the safety of communities. According to him, the police service will continue these measures until the remaining suspects are detained and brought to face proceedings in accordance with the law.
The Inspector-General also called on police officers involved in the operations to perform their duties with dedication and professionalism. He said the service is obliged to protect lives and property and ensure accountability for those who commit crimes.
