Police release photos of six men after unrest in Portsmouth
Police in Portsmouth have released photographs of six men they want to speak to as part of an investigation into violent disorder near Eastney Marina. According to The Guardian World, seven police officers were injured during the incident, while Coastguard and Border Force vehicles were damaged.
Unrest near the marina
About 200 people gathered near Eastney Marina on Sunday evening after a small boat carrying asylum seekers who had crossed the English Channel arrived on the south coast. The participants dispersed in the early hours of the following day.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it had reviewed hundreds of hours of video footage from the scene of the disorder. Officers believe the six men in the released images may be able to assist the investigation.
Charges and arrest
The first person charged in connection with the demonstration was 42-year-old Del Leon Somerville from the Paulsgrove area of Portsmouth. On Saturday morning, he appeared before the city magistrates' court charged with violent disorder and assaulting a police officer.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy from Waterlooville on suspicion of involvement in violent disorder. He was released on bail until 12 December.
Assistant Chief Constable Tony Rowlinson said the events near Eastney Marina had gone beyond peaceful protest. According to him, none of the seven injured police officers sustained serious injuries. Police are also investigating online threats and abuse directed at law enforcement officers and employees of partner services.
On Saturday afternoon, anti-immigration activists again took to the streets of Portsmouth, where they clashed with counter-protests by anti-racist groups.
