Polish politician Grzegorz Braun was questioned in connection with a case involving the denial of Nazi crimes

At the Kraków branch of the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland, MEP and leader of the “Confederation of the Polish Crown” Grzegorz Braun in a case involving the public denial of Nazi crimes at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Brown appeared for questioning as a suspect.

A prosecutor from the branch of the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes Against the Polish Nation charged him with publicly and contrary to the facts denying the crimes of genocide committed by representatives of the Third Reich at the German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Specifically, this refers to his public statements in July 2025, in which he denied the existence of gas chambers at Auschwitz and their use for the mass murder of prisoners.

These remarks were made on Radio Wnet and on the YouTube program “Jan Pospieszalski rozmawia.”

At that time, Braun stated that “Auschwitz with gas chambers is, unfortunately, a hoax.”

The Institute of National Remembrance in Poland emphasized that these claims contradict historical facts confirmed by documents, eyewitness accounts, and the testimonies of the perpetrators themselves.

Outside the Kraków branch of the Institute of National Remembrance, where the interrogation took place, right-wing radicals organized a rally in support of Brown. Participants in the rally sang the Polish national anthem and prayed.

Brown himself stated that he does not admit guilt, but does not deny having made the statements in question. According to him, he will provide an explanation after receiving a written justification for the decision to bring charges.

“Society is being blackmailed with the claim that these are supposedly well-known and indisputable facts. Well, I dispute them. I deny them solely and exclusively in this, as it turns out, sensitive matter—namely, those mythical gas chambers at Auschwitz,” Brown said.

Brown’s attorney, Jacek Wilk, a former member of parliament from the Kukiz’15 party, stated that the politician had been summoned as a suspect in a crime under Article 55 of the Law on the Institute of National Remembrance.

This provision establishes liability for publicly denying crimes—particularly Nazi and Communist crimes—contrary to the facts.

If found guilty, Brown could face up to three years in prison.

This was reported by TVN 24.
