Poland will defend its own interests during negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU
Poland will use the negotiation process regarding Ukraine’s and Moldova’s accession to the European Union to protect its own national interests. This was stated by Poland’s State Secretary for European Affairs, Ignacy Nemczycki, on the sidelines of the EU General Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg, according to “European Truth.”
According to the Polish official, the opening of the first negotiation clusters with Ukraine and Moldova is an important step, but it is only the beginning of a long negotiation process.
Nemczycki explained that the opening of the clusters involves the official presentation of the conditions that candidate countries must meet to continue progressing toward EU membership.
At the same time, he emphasized that during these negotiations, Warsaw will defend its own interests and set forth appropriate requirements for the candidate countries.
