Poland Prepares Final Report on Mass Russian Drone Incursion in September 2025

Polish law enforcement authorities expect to receive key expert conclusions by mid-April 2026, which are set to finalize the investigation into the large-scale violation of the country’s airspace. This was reported by RMF24.

The incident occurred on 9–10 September 2025, when a large group of drones entered Polish territory. According to Polish investigators, the drones were Russian Gerber models.

The forensic analysis, due to be completed by 15 April, is expected to confirm the drone types, their exact number, whether they carried warheads, and the actual level of threat they posed to the population.

Currently, investigators are examining physical evidence and fragments found across 24 different locations nationwide. The probe also includes a drone recently discovered in a mine near the city of Konin, which experts believe belonged to the same September drone group.

A separate focus of the investigation is the destruction of a private house in the village of Wyriki near Lublin. The prosecutor’s office is examining the possibility that the roof was damaged not by a direct drone strike, but as a result of a failed air-to-air missile launched by a Polish fighter during interception.

This incident represents one of the largest NATO airspace violations by Russian drones since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Polish authorities emphasize that the results of the investigation will inform further diplomatic and defense measures internationally.

The report, to be published in April, will provide answers regarding the technical characteristics of Russian Gerber drones and the methods used to counter them. This information will help not only Poland but also all Alliance members better prepare for hybrid aerial threats.

It should be recalled that Poland will continue the SAFE program despite the president’s veto. Additionally, Poland will not send military personnel to Iran via the Strait of Hormuz.
