Poland will restrict flights near the border with Russia for three months to strengthen its air defense

Poland is imposing temporary restrictions on the use of airspace in the eastern part of the country. The restrictions will be in effect from September 10 to December 9 within the special zone EP R134.

The restrictions will apply from ground level up to an altitude of approximately 3 km. They will not apply to passenger aircraft flying at higher altitudes.

According to the Polish Operational Command, the decision is intended to give air defense systems more freedom to respond to potential threats and improve their effectiveness in the eastern sector.

The strictest rules will apply at night—during this time, flights within the zone will be completely prohibited. Exceptions will be made for military aircraft, as well as takeoffs and landings at the Depultycze-Królewskie Airport near Chełm that have been pre-approved.
