Poland has responded to Belarus's statement regarding a possible terrorist attack
Belarus has alerted Poland to an alleged possible terrorist attack on its territory. Warsaw responded that its intelligence agencies are investigating every report of a potential threat but are not disclosing details of their work.
Poland has commented on Belarus’s statement regarding an alleged potential terrorist attack on Polish territory. Officials in Warsaw assured that the security services take any information about potential threats seriously and always investigate such reports. The day before, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on a meeting with Krzysztof Ożanna, the chargé d’affaires ad interim of Poland. According to Minsk, during the conversation, the Polish side was informed of a possible terrorist attack that could allegedly take place on Polish territory.
In response, the Polish side emphasized that it does not ignore any reports of potential risks. “I assure you that Polish security services never ignore any warning signs and treat all information about potential threats with due seriousness and determination,” said Jacek Dobrzyński.
At the same time, he emphasized that intelligence agencies do not comment on their actions while verifying such information. “It is also quite natural that in such cases, no intelligence agency in the world would disclose at this stage whether they are taking any measures, and if so, what exactly those measures are,” the spokesperson noted.
Polish authorities did not specify what kind of potential threat is involved or whether there are any additional details regarding the report received from the Belarusian side. At this time, there is no official information confirming the reality or validity of the threat announced by Minsk. Polish intelligence agencies continue to operate as usual and are not disclosing details of their investigation for security reasons. Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Minister-Coordinator of Polish Intelligence Agencies, stated this in a comment to PAP.
As a reminder, Poland is incorporating Ukraine’s combat experience into the modernization of its own army.
On May 21, a new 60-day extension of temporary restrictions on submitting applications for international protection at the border with Belarus took effect in Poland. These restrictions limit the right of migrants to apply for international protection while crossing the Polish-Belarusian border. The country’s authorities have once again extended these measures.
