Poland has brought charges against a Russian citizen accused of running a spy network— Polsat News

The Polish prosecutor's office has brought charges against a Russian citizen suspected of creating and leading an organised criminal group that worked for Russian intelligence.

This was reported by Polsat News.

According to the investigation, 28-year-old Mikhail Mirgorodsky worked on behalf of the Russian Federal Security Service and coordinated the activities of a network of agents in Poland in 2023.

The investigation is being conducted by the Lublin branch of the National Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the Internal Security Agency.

The suspect is not in Poland, so he has not yet been detained. The prosecutor was unable to take procedural action against him, in particular to serve him with an official indictment.

At the same time, the prosecutor's office decided to bring five charges against him, including creating a criminal organisation, directing foreign intelligence activities, participating in an attempt to cause a ground transport disaster, inciting violence, and financing terrorism.

According to Polish law enforcement, Mirgorodsky created an agent network through the Telegram messenger.

The group consisted of at least thirty people who were tasked with intelligence, spreading pro-Russian, anti-Ukrainian and anti-NATO materials, as well as violent actions against Ukrainian citizens and Belarusian oppositionists.

Some members of the organisation carried out arson attacks, assaulted activists and engaged in sabotage.

We would like to remind you that in Poland, an investigation is underway into unknown objects found on the tracks near the Suwałki Corridor.
