The singer of iconic songs from the Disney animated films *Beauty and the Beast* and *Aladdin* has died
American R&B singer Peabo Bryson, who gained worldwide fame for his performances of the soundtracks to the Disney animated films *Beauty and the Beast* and *Aladdin*, has died at the age of 75.
The musician passed away on June 2, surrounded by his family. He had suffered a stroke in late May and was undergoing treatment. The official cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
A statement from the family notes that Bryson’s voice touched millions of people around the world, and his musical legacy will live on for many generations to come.
The singer gained worldwide fame for his duets in the Disney animated films “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin.” He performed “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion and recorded “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle. Both songs won Grammy Awards.
Celine Dion expressed her condolences on the artist’s passing and recalled that during the recording of “Beauty and the Beast,” Bryson helped her feel confident when she was just beginning to sing in English.
In addition to his work on soundtracks, Pebo Bryson was one of the most famous performers of romantic R&B ballads. Among his most famous songs are “Feel the Fire,” “I’m So Into You,” and “Can You Stop the Rain.” Throughout his career, he has also collaborated with Roberta Flack, Natalie Cole, and other renowned artists.
As recently as May of this year, the singer was performing at concerts and planning to continue his Golden Touch tour, dedicated to his 50th anniversary in the music industry.
