British aristocrat Davina Morley (née Sheffield) died at the age of 75 following a brief illness; the former girlfriend of King Charles III of Great Britain, who was once tipped to become the future queen. She passed away on September 2, surrounded by her three sons, though the news was not made public until September 11.
The couple’s relationship began in 1976, when the then-Prince Charles courted the aristocrat for a long time and introduced her to the royal family. The romance ended due to a media scandal after her former partner told the press about their previous cohabitation, which violated the strict requirements of royal protocol at the time regarding the reputation of a monarch’s future wife. In 1981, Davina married Jake Morley—the same year that Charles married Princess Diana.
