EU ambassadors were presented with a draft of new sanctions against Russia comprising 1,576 items
The European External Action Service presented a new proposal at a meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives regarding a package of targeted sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex, comprising 1,576 entities.
The document includes new individuals and entities linked to the Russian defense industry and supporting the aggressive war against Ukraine. This list will mark the largest expansion of the sanctions regime for violations of Ukraine’s territorial integrity in the entire history of the regime since 2014.
The draft will now undergo a technical review by a working group under the Council of the EU, after which the prepared proposal will return to the ambassadors of the member states for final approval.
