The U.S. Embassy has denied rumors that it is leaving Kyiv
Julie Davis, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine, stated that the U.S. diplomatic mission continues to operate in Kyiv despite widespread rumors of its alleged evacuation, and emphasized that U.S. representatives remain in the Ukrainian capital and are continuing their active work. Davis made this statement during a press conference.
During the press conference in Kyiv, Davis directly refuted reports that the U.S. Embassy had left the city, explaining that this was a misunderstanding caused by an incorrect interpretation of a statement by senior EU official Kaia Kallas. Subsequently, the European Union also clarified that her words had been misinterpreted. “I am here in Kyiv in person right now,” Julie Davis emphasized, noting that the U.S. diplomatic presence in Ukraine remains stable.
She also reported that U.S. Congress members Richard Blumenthal and Jim Himes are in Kyiv, where they have been working intensively for several days, meeting with Ukrainian partners and assessing the situation on the ground. “I am extremely pleased that Senator Blumenthal and Representative Himes are with us today. Over the past few days, they have been extremely active and have had a very busy schedule,” Davis said.
According to her, the American lawmakers’ visit is ongoing, and they plan to attend the Black Sea Security Forum in the near future, continuing their program of meetings in Ukraine.
During his visit to Ukraine, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal visited a facility that manufactures drones for the front lines and acknowledged that he was impressed by the pace of development of Ukrainian technology in this field.
