Trump has filed a new $10 billion lawsuit against the WSJ

Trump has filed a new $10 billion lawsuit against the WSJ

Donald Trump has refiled a lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and its journalists, seeking $10 billion in damages over a report on letters related to Jeffrey Epstein. A similar lawsuit had previously been dismissed by a court, but the U.S. president has resumed his legal battle with the media, CNN reports.

U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a new defamation lawsuit against the publisher of The Wall Street Journal and two of the publication’s journalists, continuing the legal dispute over a report concerning an archive of letters received by Jeffrey Epstein, in which he is seeking $10 billion in damages.

The case concerns an article published in July 2025, in which journalists wrote about an alleged letter to Epstein on the occasion of his 50th birthday in 2003, which contained Trump’s name and the silhouette of a nude woman, but the president himself denies ever having written or signed such a document.

In a new court filing, Trump’s lawyers argue that the publication “falsely presented as fact” the claim of his involvement in the letter, while failing, in their words, to provide adequate evidence, and a representative of the president’s legal team told CNN that he would continue to “hold accountable those who mislead Americans with fake news and slander.”

Trump’s previous lawsuit regarding this article was dismissed by the court last month, when a federal judge ruled that the plaintiff had failed to prove “malice” on the part of the journalists in preparing the publication, which is a key criterion in defamation cases in the U.S.

The Wall Street Journal has not yet commented on the new lawsuit, but representatives of its parent company, Dow Jones, have previously stated that they are fully confident in the accuracy of their reporting and are prepared to defend it in court, while the conflict itself is part of a broader confrontation between Trump and the media following his return to power.

It is also noted that the U.S. president has already filed multi-billion-dollar lawsuits against other media outlets, including The New York Times and the BBC, accusing them of spreading false information and biased coverage of political events, while the topic of his former ties to Jeffrey Epstein remains the subject of public and legal scrutiny in the U.S.

Iran and the U.S. exchangedaccusations following new strikes.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump announced significant progress in negotiations with Tehran, noting that as part of a potential agreement, Iran could transfer its highly enriched uranium to the United States.

Iran’s Supreme Leader has bannedthe transfer of enriched uranium.
