The Ukrainian Embassy in Luxembourg has spoken out against Netrebko's concert

The Ukrainian Embassy in Luxembourg has spoken out against Netrebko's concert

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has expressed serious concern over a performance by a Russian opera singer scheduled for June 15, 2026, at the Luxembourg Philharmonic.

Diplomats emphasized that the singer has for years been publicly associated with the Russian political establishment, supported Putin, and received state awards from him.

This is stated in a press release on the embassy’s official Facebook page, according to Ukrinform. The statement emphasizes that promoting representatives of Russian culture on prestigious international stages during military aggression risks contributing to the normalization of the aggressor state’s policies. The embassy has already shared its concerns with the relevant authorities of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and respectfully urged them to reconsider the appropriateness of holding this event.

As a reminder, Ambassador Zaluzhny called for the cancellation of Netrebko’s performance in London.

The Berlin Opera has also continued its collaboration with Netrebko despite the protests.
