Fire at Polish Drone Factory Was an Act of Sabotage — Tusk
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the fire at a drone component manufacturing plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna was deliberately set. According to him, there is no doubt that the fire was an act of sabotage.
Tusk spoke before a government meeting regarding the fires that have occurred in recent days at two industrial sites: the plant of defense contractor WB Electronics in Skarżysko-Kamienna, which manufactures unmanned aerial systems, and the production and warehouse facility of JFG Composites in Lublin, which manufactures components for the aircraft industry.
“As for the fires at these two facilities… in the case of Skarżysko-Kamienna, there is no doubt that it was arson, an act of sabotage,” Tusk said.
“In the case of Lublin, we do not have such evidence, but given the nature of the production, we cannot rule out that arson also occurred there,” he added.
Tusk noted that the coming weeks and months will be decisive not only for the war between Russia and Ukraine but will also pose a serious challenge for countries throughout the region because, in his words, Russia plans to escalate tensions and destabilize the situation in the region.
Tusk also linked these fires to the vote scheduled for Friday in the Polish parliament on President Karol Nawrocki’s veto of a bill regulating the cryptocurrency market.
He called on opposition lawmakers and Nawrocki to change their position on the bill, noting that its adoption would significantly complicate the financing of terrorist activities directed against Poland.
According to Tusk, “the vast majority of terrorist operations rely on cryptocurrencies,” including acts of sabotage and arson.
“There was no doubt that the method of payment and recruitment of attackers was based on cryptocurrencies,” Tusk said, asserting that the lack of regulation had allowed the market to operate virtually unchecked.
“Russia uses cryptocurrencies as the primary… mechanism for financing this kind of operation,” he noted.
