Sofia Christodoulou Makri elected new EDEK president in Cyprus
In Cyprus, Sofia Christodoulou Makri was elected the new president of the EDEK party following a vote for the party leadership held on Saturday. She received 1,191 votes, or 53.5% support.
Voting results
As Cyprus Mail reports, the official results were announced by EDEK. Kullis Mavronikolas and Giorgos Kouttoukis also took part in the election.
Mavronikolas came in second, receiving 788 votes, or 35.4%. Kouttoukis received 246 votes, accounting for 11.1%.

Election participation
A total of 2,233 EDEK members across Cyprus took part in the vote. Of these, 2,225 ballots were deemed valid.
In a party statement, the acting president, leadership, and members of EDEK congratulated Sofia Christodoulou Makri on her election as the party's new president.
