The first trailer for the series "Elle"—a prequel to "Blonde in Law"—has been released

"Blonde in Law" is getting a prequel—the series "Elle," for which Prime Video has released a teaser. The first season is set to premiere on July 1, and the show has already been renewed for a second season even before its release.

Variety reports this.

The events of “Elle” take place long before the story of the original film and will depict Elle Woods’ life in high school. The series will explore the events and experiences that shaped the heroine before she entered Harvard.

The official project description states that the series “follows Elle Woods in high school and the events that shaped her into the iconic heroine we fell in love with in the first film, Legally Blonde.”

Lexi Minetri plays the lead role in the series. This is the actress’s first major lead role in her career. Previously, she appeared in small roles in the series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Merd: Death in the Family,” and “The Paramedic Who Haunted Me.”

Ell’s mother is played by June Diane Raphael, and the role of her father went to Tom Everett Scott. The series will also feature Chloe Wepfer, David Bartka, Brad Garder, Kayla Mesonnet, and Lisa Yamada. The series’ cast also includes Gabriel Policano, Jacob Moskowitz, Chandler Kinney, Zach Luker, Jessica Belkin, and others.

Filming for the series began in April 2025. At the time, Reese Witherspoon announced the start of production on Instagram and posted a photo of Lexi Minetri.

“Harvard was tough. High school was even tougher. Our new series ‘Elle’ is officially in production!” the actress wrote.

Earlier this year, Prime Video renewed the series for a second season even before the premiere of the first. Production on new episodes is scheduled to begin this spring.

The series was created by Laura Kittrell. She also served as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Drys. The executive production team includes Reese Witherspoon, Mark Platt, Amanda Brown, and Jason Moore, who also directed the first two episodes.

Mstislav Chernov will head the jury for the Cannes Film Festival’s documentary film award.
