Lebanon's Prime Minister Accuses Israel of Committing War Crimes — CNN
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam issued a sharp statement directed at Tel Aviv following the death of journalist Amal Khalil in the south of the country.
CNN reports this.
The head of government called the Israeli airstrike a deliberate attack on media representatives and rescue services.
According to the Lebanese side, the journalist for the newspaper Al-Akhbar was killed while performing her professional duties in the city of Tyre.
This incident has become yet another flashpoint in the region, where four media workers have already been killed in attacks since March of this year.
Journalists Amal Khalil and freelance photojournalist Zeinab Faraj tried to take shelter in a building during a series of airstrikes in southern Lebanon. However, the building where the women were located was hit directly.
Khalil worked for the publication Al-Akhbar, which is known for its left-wing views and support for the Hezbollah group.
The Lebanese news agency NNA claims that Israeli forces not only carried out the strike but also obstructed the work of emergency services.
Red Cross workers had to evacuate the wounded Faraj to a hospital under continuous fire, which Prime Minister Salam described as a war crime.
IDF representatives acknowledged that journalists were wounded but denied intentionally targeting members of the press.
According to the military, they act solely to ensure the safety of their units and strive to minimize collateral damage among civilians.
The Israeli side emphasized that their forces spotted two vehicles leaving a “Hezbollah military facility.”
The military claims that the people in the vehicles behaved aggressively and approached army positions in a threatening manner, which led to return fire on the targets.

Iran rejected Trump’s claims about transferring uranium to the U.S. and accused him of manipulation
The U.S. and Iran are negotiating a potential deal that would involve exchanging enriched uranium for the unfreezing of approximately $20 billion in Iranian assets. Washington’s primary goal in the negotiations is to prevent Iran from gaining access to significant stockpiles of enriched uranium and to reduce nuclear risks.
U.S. President Donald Trump also announced progress in negotiations with Iran, under which Washington would allegedly receive all of Tehran’s enriched uranium without any financial payments.
