Malaysian PM vows to inspect suspicious shipments to Israel
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the country’s authorities will inspect and investigate suspicious shipments passing through Malaysia that could support Israel’s military capabilities. According to him, Kuala Lumpur will not allow the country to be used as a transit point for supplies that contribute to Israel’s military capabilities and its actions against Palestinians and other civilians.

Anwar Ibrahim wrote on the social media platform X that Malaysia’s position is clear and unequivocal. He noted that all suspicious shipments will be subject to inspection and investigation in accordance with Malaysian law. If violations are established, the authorities will take decisive action.

Containers at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas
According to Anadolu Agency, citing Bloomberg, Malaysian authorities seized three containers bound for Israel via the Port of Tanjung Pelepas on August 19. They were not released because officials are checking the contents of the cargo.
According to Bloomberg, citing informed sources, the containers allegedly contained e-bike parts from a Chinese manufacturer and were bound for the port of Ashdod, south of Tel Aviv. Another container from the Philippines was detained on August 7 because Malaysian authorities suspected it might contain weapons. The cargo was intended for the Israeli defense company Elbit Systems Ltd.
