According to Shah, particular attention will be paid to risk reduction, preparedness for natural disasters, and responding to them. Nepal’s prime minister said this on Saturday, September 19.
The statement came after large-scale Bhote Koshi flash floods hit the country’s northern and central regions.

Consequences of the Bhote Koshi floods
The Bhote Koshi flash floods were caused by an ice-and-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26. The disaster devastated towns and villages in northern and central Nepal.
As of September 18, more than 1,400 people had died as a result of the floods. More than 6,000 people were considered missing; these figures were current as of Friday, September 18.
