The Dutch Prime Minister discussed Ukraine, Iran, and security with Trump

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, where they discussed key issues of security and international policy.

According to Jetten, the conversation focused on security cooperation, particularly within NATO, as well as trade relations between the two countries.

Special attention was paid to the situation in the Middle East, particularly developments surrounding Iran, and Russia’s war against Ukraine.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, who are in the U.S. on a working visit, also participated in the meeting.

The Prime Minister noted that the conversation was “open and constructive,” though not long enough to reach a common position.

According to him, he conveyed Europe’s concerns to Trump and emphasized the importance of NATO as a security guarantee.

The Netherlands also expressed its readiness to join international efforts to ensure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The new Dutch government plans to consult with Estonia on the development of digitalization of public services, which is one of the new coalition’s priority goals.

The Dutch Armed Forces announced a large-scale structural reform that involves the introduction of unmanned technologies and anti-drone measures in every combat unit of the army.
