Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan announced the government's resignation
On August 2, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the government’s resignation in connection with the start of the newly elected parliament—the National Assembly of the 9th convocation.
In a video address, Pashinyan stated that, in accordance with the country’s Constitution, the start of the new parliament’s first session requires the government to resign. He said he would sign a letter of resignation and submit it to the president.
Once the resignation is accepted, the head of state must appoint a new prime minister, whose candidacy will be proposed by the parliamentary majority. This is expected to take place as early as August 2.
Pashinyan’s “Civic Contract” party won the parliamentary elections on June 7 and secured a majority in the National Assembly. Therefore, Nikol Pashinyan is expected to once again lead the Armenian government.

As a reminder, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that during a phone call with Vladimir Putin, he explicitly affirmed the country’s right to independently determine its foreign policy course. According to him, Armenia no longer wants to be left without alternatives and intends to continue on this path.
